Table of Contents | 1.0 Economic Convergence and the Concept of Sustainable Development: a Redifinition Task
by Daniel Sotelsek Spain Since the XIX century and even nowdays, one of the favourite topics of economists has been the economic growth. However, there isn't an agreement when explaining causes and consequences of this phenomenon. Observing the theory evolution, we can distinguish a first fase that goes from the early ideas of Smith until the 50's (with the principles of Solow). A second fase includes the proposal of a "new theory" through endogenos models which explained the possibility of growth without limits. Recently a tracional theory has developed from the models of conditional convergency, which confirm the possibility of growth in poor economies. Among them evorimental and sustainable facts are not included. The purpose of this paper is to explain the reasons why the concept of sustainability has to be included in the analysis of condicional convergence. Lmargalefg@nexo.es
