Dear Sir or Madam:the Global Community  Rajendra K.C. Chairman REDA/ Nepal ngonetwork@enet.com.np (office)  for Discussion Roundtables 15, 26, and 55 I have meeting in USA in 25 to 28 auguest in USA at the mean time I would like come in your summit would you provide the offical conformation letter and other rules and regulations of your organazation?Rural Environment and Development Association (REDA) is a national social, non-profit and non-governmental organization in Nepal. We are working with 243 Community Base organizations in Nepal. Local Cooperative groups are main target groups for sustainability development in the community through the fundraising activities. You are aware about the Nepal. Nepal is the mountain and agro-base country and 80 percent active labor forced are engaged in agriculture, but we have facing the environment problem in Nepal. In 1996 we would like to participate unfortunately, we are late. We would like participating this years Summit augest 17-22, 2002. This type of Summit is helpful like our organization for different types of the ideas share in each global union. I hope that, you are serious in our curiosity. Nepal is a developing country with 70 percent of population below the poverty line. And 90 percent population lives in rural areas. Over 80 percent of active labor force is engaged in agriculture since the economy of Nepal is agro -based; the majority of her population largely depends upon farming for their income and employment. Over 40 percent of Gross Domestic Profit (GDP) is thus contributed by this sector.Nepal is a landlocked country with a total land area of 147,181sq. Km. The country boarders with China in the North and India in the south. The country 's total population is estimated at 2.5 cores of which women constitute a little over 50 percent .The country can be divided into three geographical divisions as Himalayan, Mountain and Terai Regions. According to 2048 Statistical Burro of Population Survey Report 7.82 percent people stay in Himalayan Region, 45.56 percent people stay in Mountain Region and 46.62 percent people stay in Terai Region. Categorically, Government has declared that the three different regions of Himalayan, Mountain and Terai regions are located respectively at 16,000 3,000 and 1,000 feet height from sea levels. In Nepal About 25% currency is used by NGOs sectors of total budget of the nation. About 25,000 NGOs, 140 International Non- Governmental Organization (INGOs), 6 Bi-Laterals, 8 Multi-Laterals organizations are actively working in Nepal. However, a huge amount of money, many INGOs and NGOs are being used in the development activities of the nation. But real numerical data are not available through any proper organization up to now. According to Social Welfare Council records, some 11,500 NGOs are affiliated with it. Still it cannot be considered as the real data of NGOs in Nepal. It is fact that Government sector only cannot work out the people's problem and national development. In general, we can say that NGOs have played the vital role for national development. Most NGOs have working itself for as cost efficient, effective mobilizations, mobilize the local people and local resources, familiar with local communities, flexible in working, open and participatory approach and decision. They can recruitment the small groups mobilization; innovative motivation skill and volunteerisms thought are the added advantages of NGOs. It helps maintain balance of power between the state and the people by social works. Now, REDA is working with 243 Community Base Cooperative Organizations in Nepal. All partner Community Base Organizations are lies in rural areas and there major professions are agriculture .We would like to share the global ideas allocate the development tricks. Our main goal is, all project should be designed to be self-sustained and auto-run after donor funds. How the people are self-sustain in developing country like Nepal? This is the big problem and question to us. Because, 80 percent people work full time in the farms, but they cannot eat a year. Really we would like to share this question's answers in the summit. And what is alternative technology in Nepal and How others countries are using the agriculture systems? Therefore, World Food Summit is the encouraging role like developing countries Organizations.
