Dear President Saddam Hussein:

Something you said during a news conference has assured me you were replying to my email letter on the Internet(see July Newsletter). You said that all these "new ideas and goals will die with me." I dont agree, and I thought that I needed to explain why. This discussion is meant to be a start to the global dialogue on all religions over the world. There is a Revolution out there and religion is at the heart of it. So please keep talking for humanity's sake. I think of you as today's religious leader of Islam and, as such, you are invited to come to Toronto in August 2002. Your followers are welcome as well.

Both our worlds, the West and Moslem Civilizations, have been on a collision course for far too long, and it is time now to make things right for the both of us. There are now today more than a billion Muslims in the world, and just as many Christians. You are all very important to the Earth Community along with all the people from other religions. It is very important to manage Earth responsibly (as said by God in the New Age Revelations). Every person on Earth is responsible.

During my High School, I have studied the great Moslem's civilization and the birth of the Islam Religion. Let me just mention some of the things I have learned and you are welcome to correct me if I am wrong. My understanding of your world should help in opening a meaningful discussion and finding a peaceful and sound solution to our problems.

Everytime a problem arises in the world the media in the West feeds the public with a distorted vision of what is really happening. It is often because of ignorance and lack of insights on the part of the people from the news industry. What we dont understand we blame it on the leader. Anything goes! As long as the public reads the columns! The Western style of dealing with world problems: find the leader and if there is none help elect one. And there we are again the news media looking for a leader to be held accountable. But it is the general public at large that needs to be educated as no "humble person" has the time to use the facilities found in universities. Therefore the news media itself should be be educated in the writing and publishing of the news. In many countries such as yours you are the news media.

There is no such a thing as one leader being responsible and accountable for all and everything in the country where the event is happening. The Earth Community Organization (ECO) has shown that resolving local and global problems often requires the acceptance of responsibility by everyone.

We are all responsible in some ways. We are responsible locally and globally. The Earth Community Organization (ECO) has given back responsibility to every citizen on Earth. Everyone shares responsibility for the present and future well-being of life within Earth Community. We will work together in working out sound solutions to local and global problems. It would be wrong and dishonest to blame it alone on the leader of a country. Most problems in the world must find solutions at the local and global community levels (and not assume that the leader alone is responsible and will handle it). There is a wisdom in the ways of very humble people that needs to be utilized. Every humble person deserves to have ideas respected, and encouraged to develop his or her own life for the better. Sound solutions to help manage and sustain Earth will very likely be found this way. Everyone can help assess the needs of the planet and propose sound solutions for its proper management, present and future. Everyone can think of better ideas to sustain all life on Earth and realize these ideas by conducting positive and constructive actions. When there is a need to find a solution to a problem or a concern, a sound solution would be to choose a measure or conduct an action, if possible, which causes reversible damage as opposed to a measure or an action causing an irreversible loss; that is the grassroots process. The Earth Community Organization can help you realized your actions by coordinating efforts efficiently together.

Why are religious beliefs very important to Earth management? Why involve believers to manage the planet? Do believers leave their beliefs at home when they go to work? Do they stop applying the ethical aspects of their beliefs at work or in other situations of their lives? Why would anyone split religious beliefs out of being a way of life when they are so needed to help save humanity and all lifeforms?

Very simple answer! As mentioned above there are over two billion people on Earth who are either Muslims (believe in Islam), Christians (believe in Christ), or Jews (Judaism). If we were to add here people from all other religions we would find that everyone (or most people) is religious in some ways. These other people may or may not belong to a specific religion. But now we are talking about six billion people. All responsible and accountable! So religious beliefs are very important! People from all faith are asked to come forward and help us manage the planet responsibly. The concept of responsiblity need to be extended to include local and global aspects. It must be made a way of life, nothing less. Ignorance is no excuse!

The Prophet and Messenger of God, Muhammad--may peace and blessings be upon him, his family and his companions, has carried out the teaching of Divine Will and, by following God's Word, he has created one of the world's great religions, Islam. Islam literally means surrender to God. And a Muslim is one who is surrendering to God. That is how Islam developed as a community of people in the service of Allah, the one God, the God of Abraham. Islam reveres prophets such as Moses, Christ, and Abraham, who is the father of the Arabs as well as of the Jews. As expressed by the Judeo-Christian-Islamic tradition, Islam shares with the other Abrahamic religions their sacred history, the basic ethical teachings contained in the Ten Commandments and above all, belief in the One God. The Quran is Islam's sacred book. For Muslims, or followers of Islam, the Quran is the actual Word of God revealed through the archangel Gabriel to the Prophet Muhammad. Islam proposes that the relation of the human being with the Divine is essentially individual, with no intermediaries. God is believed to be the Creator of man and the Source of all knowledge. Ethics is fundamental to the Islamic teachings and all people are expected to act ethically towards each other at all times.

Mr. President Hussein, the Earth Community is asking you today to extend this belief to every human being on Earth. Global ethics are very important to the Earth Community and were developed during the World Congress on Managing and Measuring Sustainable Development - Global Community Action 1 held in August 2000. Global ethics are again the subject of a Discussion Roundtable in the new Global Dialogue on Earth Management and you are very welcome to bring in your input.

It was faith in One God and emphasis upon His Mercy that brought large numbers of people to believe in Islam. The new religion did not coerce people to convert. Throughout the history of Islam, many continued to remain Jews and Christians and to this day important communities of the followers of these faiths are found in Muslim lands. It is in submitting to God's Will that people attain peace in their lives in this world and in the hereafter. The message of Islam touches humanity's most profound nature. Islam accepts God's Oneness as a the universal truth of all revelation. It is about men and women as they were created by God and not as fallen beings. This has created a problem with religious philosophers in the West, Moslem, Jewish, or Christian, as it did not provide for personal immortality. However, religious scholars, together with mystics, pious persons, and popular saints, are often recognized as having a religious authority of different degrees. In my view Mr. President Hussein you are classified in one of those categories. I think of you as a mystic and a Saint. You are certainly also today's religious leader of Islam.

Responsibility is part of the New Age Revelations (by God) and is also a fundamental concept of the teaching of Islam.

Mr. President Hussein Islam is a Global Religion for all people from whatever race or background they might be. Please do not discard the rest of the world, even us in the West, of the privilege of belonging to the universe. We all do! The Islamic civilization is based on a unity which stands completely against any racial or ethnic discrimination. There are major racial and ethnic groups as the Arabs, Indians, Turks, Persians, Africans, Malays and Chinese and many other smaller groups who have embraced Islam. They have all contributed to the building of the Islamic civilization. May be the West would too if you let us understand you better. Early in its history, Islam was not opposed to learning from previous civilizations and incorporating their science and culture into its own understanding of the universe, as long as they did not oppose the principles of Islam. Each ethnic and racial group which embraced Islam made its contribution to the one Islamic civilization to which everyone belonged. The West may want to add to Islam the New Age Revelations by God, Allah.

Mr. President Hussein, the Moslem civilization is truly a global civilization as it permits people of diverse ethnic backgrounds to work together in cultivating various arts and sciences. Though during the early days the civilization was profoundly Islamic, even non-Muslim participated in the intellectual activity whose fruits belonged to everyone. The scientific aspects were a preview of the present situation in the West where scientists and people of learning from all over the planet are active in the advancement of knowledge which belongs to everyone. The global civilization created by Islam has succeeded in activating the mind of the people who believe in it. The nomadic Arabs have now become torch-bearers of science and learning. The Persians, who had also created a great civilization prior to the rise of Islam, have produced much more science and learning in the Islamic period than before. The same can be said of the Turks and other peoples who embraced Islam. The religion of Islam was itself responsible not only for the creation of a global civilization in which people of many different ethnic backgrounds participated, but it played a central role in developing intellectual and cultural life on a scale not seen before. And for some eight hundred years Arabic remained the major intellectual and scientific language of the world. Throughout the centuries following the rise of Islam, Muslim dynasties governing in various parts of the Islamic world were the promoters of Islamic culture and thought. This tradition of intellectual activity was tempered down only at the beginning of modern times as a result of the weakening of faith among Muslims along with external domination. Nevertheless the Muslim's intellect has begun anew in many parts of the Islamic world. And you, Mr. President Hussein, you are the light of all Muslims. You have gained the respect of the Muslim communities and now of the West. I certainly do have the greatest respect for you, your strength, your courage and your wisdom. Your faith and that of your followers are commendable to all Muslims and to humanity.

The Quran is the central sacred book of Islam and is the source of all Islamic doctrines and ethics. The Quran rejects polytheism and emphasized man's moral responsibility. This is also a fundamental aspect of the Earth Community. The sound of the Quran is the first and last sound that a Muslim hears in this life. As the direct Word of God and the embodiment of God's Will, the Quran is considered as the guide par excellence for the life of Muslims. Both the intellectual aspects of Islam and Islamic Law have their origin in the Quran. Essentially a religion of the book, Islam sees all authentic religions as being associated with a scripture. That is why Muslims call Christians and Jews the "people of the book". Throughout all its chapters and verses, the Quran emphasizes the significance of knowledge and encourages Muslims to learn and to acquire knowledge not only of God's laws and religious injunctions, but also of the world of nature and the universe. The Quran proclaims the importance of seeing, contemplating, and reasoning about the world of creation and its diverse phenomena. It places the gaining of knowledge as the highest religious activity, one that is most pleasing in God's eyes. Getting to know the universe is getting to know God, Allah. That is why wherever the message of the Quran was accepted and understood, the quest for knowledge flourished.

The world was created by Allah. That meant that the study of anything within it was a study of the actions of Allah. Muslim astronomers developed detailed mathematically exact star charts. They observed the summer and winter solstices and the movements of the planets and were considered to have developed the greatest mathematical accuracy. Muslims also introduced the Arabic numeral system that we use today.

Dont you believe, Mr. President Hussein, that the thinking of Islam has evolved over the centuries and that now, believing in the New Age Revelations (by God) is truly the next stage of evolution of humanity? Would God be less God today than during Abraham's time?

The Big Bang Theory of the Universe is today the greatest knowledge of God as observed by human beings and studying it must be seen as a religious and new understanding of God. Souls were created by God and were an integral part of the Primeval Atom. The physical Universe is a part of God. God is conscious of us through our Souls. In a way, Souls are 'God's plumbing devices', His ways to communicate with the physical Universe, His medium to connect with us. Most Souls as we see them today are not as they were at the beginning of the Universe (at least the one universe we can observe today but there is of course much more to the Universe) in the Primeval Atom. Most have merged and evolved. The Primeval Atom was made of the pure light of God and of His consciousness and Spirit, which today we call Souls. Then God allowed the Primeval Atom to explode and space, time and matter were formed and the Universe evolved as we observe it today.

At the early stage of this expanding Universe(even if the Universe had been proven not to be expanding the following concepts on the existence and attributes and qualities of Souls would still be true), every particle in the Universe had a Soul each being a small part of the primeval consciousness of God. Each Soul was the essence of a small part of God's Spirit. In a way, the essence of each Soul is its own Spirit, itself a small part of God's Spirit. This is because God exists everywhere in the Universe and in every particle of all galaxies. Souls have an important intrinsic quality, they can merge together, a group of Souls can become one Soul, a brighter one, different. This is what Souls do best, and it is to unify to better serve God. Souls can evolve as well.

Souls have merged and evolved since the Big Bang. Finally, a short while ago, the Soul of Humanity was formed. The relationship with my Soul has lead me to the discovery of the Soul of Humanity, a wonderful loving Being made of all the Souls of humanity, the Souls of all lifeforms on Earth and the Soul of Earth itself.

At the early stage, when the Earth was formed, and a while later, all the conditions for the formation of life were present, and life was created to better serve God. Life was made of matter and every particle of that matter had a Soul that merged with all the others. That first spark of life had a unique and independent Soul, and its own Spirit, to better serve God. Throughout the different evolutionary stages of life on Earth, Souls have kept merging to better serve God. Many groupings of Souls became more complicated than others, they were much brighter beings than other groupings, but all serve God in their own special way. One unique and most wonderful grouping was the grouping that made the human Soul. God loves the human Souls a lot because of their wonderful qualities. Through their Souls human beings became conscious of God in many different ways. Religions of all kinds started to spread on Earth over the past thousands of years to adore God and pray. Different groupings of Souls affected human beings in different ways and Peoples today have different religious beliefs. God loves diversity. God loves good Souls from all religions.

Different religions have different ways to love, adore and pray to God. And God's Heaven exists. Heaven on Earth is different from God's Heaven. To be in Heaven with God will mean a Soul has left the matter of the Universe forever to enter God's Heaven.

Again during the early history of Islam, the Prophet Muhammad had an intense spiritual experience during the Makkan period. It was during this period that God ordered the direction of prayers to be changed from Jerusalem to Makkah. To this day Jerusalem remains along with Makkah and Madinah one of the holiest cities of Islam. In Madinah, the Prophet established the first Islamic society which has served as the model for all later Islamic societies. The Prophet also reconstituted the rite of pilgrimage as founded by Abraham.

Islam consists of five pillars which every Muslim must follow and are the:

a) affirmation of the faith (shahadah), that is, witnessing that La ilaha illa'Llah (there is no divinity but Allah) and Muhammadun rasul Allah (Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah);
b) five daily prayers (al-salat) which Muslims perform facing Makkah;
c) fasting (al-sawm) from dawn to sunset during the month of Ramadan;
d) making the pilgrimage to Makkah (al-hajj) at least once in a lifetime if one's financial and physical conditions permit it; and
e) paying a 2 1/2% tax (al-zakat) on one's capital which is used for the needs of the community.

Muslims are also requested to exhort others to perform good acts and to abstain from evil.

Mr. President Hussein, the understanding of the Universe as we observe it today, the Big Bang Theory, is about getting to know God and of his creation. A month ago, God Himself has revealed to us His Divine's Plan and the higher purpose for humanity. Surely, God could not have created a Universe with billions of galaxies, each one with billions of stars such as our Sun, unless He had a plan for Life, especially for an advanced species such as ours. The Divine Plan for humanity is:

a) for everyone to manage Earth responsibly, and
b) about to reach the stars and spread Life throughout the Universe and thus help other Souls to evolve and serve God in the best possible ways.

The higher purpose of humanity is to serve God by propagating Life throughout the Universe. Humanity will evolve spiritually to fulfill God's Plan.

Islam inlcudes a religious law called al-Shari'ah in Arabic that governs the life of Muslims. Muslims consider it to be the embodiment of the Will of God. The schools of law were developed early in Islamic history. This Law, while being rooted in the sources of the Islamic revelation, is a living body of law which provides to the needs of Islamic society. Islamic laws are essentially preventative and are not based on harsh punishment except as a last measure. The faith of the Muslim causes him to have respect for the rights of others and Islamic Law is such that it prevents transgression from taking place in most instances. That is why what people consider to be harsh punishments are so rarely in need of being applied.

Western science is an independent way of looking at the work of nature and the Universe. Science is what has made the West powerful and great. Science and western philosophy both begin with the same assumption, that the Universe is a rational place. And the West is dominating over the Islamic world because it has applied science in all aspects of life. Science came from the Islamic world originally and therefore Islamic science is really responsible for the West's possession of science and the West's domination of the Islamic world itself. The West adopted Islamic science. And therefore, all the muslims have to do is to reclaim this science for themselves in order to reach the glories of their past.

Islamic science has a unique way of looking at reality. Western science is as much a part of Western civilization as Islamic science is a part of Islamic civilization. It is best for one civilization to learn the science of another civilisation. And the best example of that is exactly what Islam did with Greek science and what Europe did with Islamic science, which is usually called Arabic science but is really Islamic science, done by Arabs, Persians, Turks and Indians. Today there is a continuous transfer and absorption of western science and technology into all existing Islamic countries.

Earth Community has come to realize that peoples live in a world of increasing interdependence and that our faith is intrinsically related to the preservation of the global life-support systems and to the survival of all forms of life. Earth Community is calling upon religious practicers, scientists, tehnologists, technicians, engineers and all other professionals to create positive actions in their own fields about using knowledge from all fields of science in a responsible manner to find sound solutions to human needs and to fulfill aspirations without misusing this knowledge. Science gives a person a set of rules, a way of thinking, a philosophy to look at the physical Universe, to observe and analyze it, and to discover its making, its functioning, and its structure. The scientific method is very reassuring to oneself. It gives us the basic reasoning we need in order to make informed and sound policy and management decisions.

Science has a responsibility for the well-being of humanity. Science is found everywhere in our societies. Because of science, new technologies and techniques were developed and used in the market place. The products of science take important places in all aspects of our lives and actually save lives every second. They make our lives manageable in a million different ways. Science has also played a destructive role in our history and is continuing to do so today. Science, technology and engineering are directly or indirectly responsible for threats to our environment, for wasteful uses of the Earth's resources and for wars and conflicts in the world. The Soul of Humanity will purge all Souls that break the rules of Peace in the world. They will be asked to serve God elsewhere in the Universe and will never be allowed back on Earth.

Science, technology and engineering are major forces of socio-economic change. They cause humanity and its social and natural environment to evolve rapidly and, therefore, they carry serious responsibility and accountability. They are no longer regarded as benefactors of humanity. Ethical integrity has declined. In several parts of the world people have become suspicious and are questioning abuses of various kinds. Many scientists and other professionals have shown little regard to ethical problems arising from their work and must become responsible and accountable just like everyone else. There are no exception. We are all asked in helping humanity and all life on Earth from complete extinction. It is a common goal.

Researchers and other professionals receive public funding for finding solutions to problems in society. Public funding should be directed towards very specific research projects related to the life-support system of the planet and to a more sustainable biosphere.

Science, technology and engineering must regain public trust, state ethical responsibilties and become a voice to present and future generations. During the August 2002 global dialogue, there will be a discussion roundtable on the ethical issues related to science, technology and engineering, their practices and ideologies. The public is invited to debate the issue.

The public should be informed about research projects and their wider implications. All parties involved should collaborate with the public. Strong legal and moral safeguards must be implemented to discourage unethical practice and the wrongly use of science, technology and engineering for the development and manufacturing of mass destruction weapons, and for experiments which do not respect the dignity of human persons and of other lifeforms.

Just as for human rights, the respect of the dignity of the human person is at the root of the ethics of science, technology and engineering. The Scale of Human Rights is aimed at prohibiting all acts, research projects, technology development, which do not conform to the ideas of humanity.

After studying the histories of Arabic science written in the west, it seems that everything ends in the thirteenth century. Islamic philosophy and science, history of astronomy, physics and biology, anything you study, somehow comes to an end in the thirteenth century which coincides exactly with the end of political contact between Islam and the West. Today muslims always get angry at why this is so, but Western historians are completely right to study Islamic culture from their own point of view. And muslim thinkers are completely wrong in studying their own culture from the point of view of western history.

Today there is a major crisis in the world due to the very application of modern technology, that is the environmental crisis. This crisis is of course global. This is the reason of the Global Dialogue on Earth Management to be held August 2002 in Toronto.

The global crisis touches you Mr. President Hussein and all other Muslims, as well as every human being on Earth, and the whole of Nature. Humanity needs you Mr. President Hussein. Allah needs you. The Soul of Humanity needs you. I need you. You and all other religious leaders on Earth are requested to participate in the Global Dialogue on Earth Management. Everyone is responsible in the proper management of our planet. This is our home, yours and mine, and the home of every human being present and future, the home of all life. Come to Toronto! You will have to provide for your own security. I can give you $1000. Canadian towards paying for your security. This is as much as I can afford. Please find a way.

May the DIVINE WILL come into our lives and show us the way.
May our higher purpose in life bring us closer to the Soul of Humanity and God.
